A CLT is a non-profit organization whose primary mission is to provide and steward land and properties for the benefit of its low to moderate income community members using a ground lease that ensures permanent affordability.
A CLT achieves its mission by acquiring land and properties from the speculative real estate market, then ensures permanent affordability by leasing the land for a renewable term of 99 years to its residents and community members to address their collective needs. Through acquisition and land stewardship, a CLT provides long term stability and resources for individuals, families, and communities to thrive.
In 2024, Kev Ntseeg Leej Niam (Belief in Our Mother) donated a 210-acre property to Zos Ntuj Hmoov Ntuj Community Land Trust (ZNHN CLT), a non-profit community benefit organization, to develop single-family homes, apartments, business spaces, and spaces for agriculture activities for our low to moderate income community members in Butte County, specifically in the beautiful City of Oroville. Because of Leej Niam’s love for her children, she wants all her children, particularly those who are less fortunate, to have a home and live a happy life. Leej Niam hopes her children will practice the values of love, respect, and be kind to one another and learn to preserve, protect, and conserve Leej Niam’s beautiful earth for future generations.
ZNHN CLT affordable housing will help create more prosperous families and stable neighborhoods. We believe homeownership may increase family wealth, higher educational attainment, better health, reduced reliance on government assistance, and homeowners are less likely to default on a mortgage or lose their homes to foreclosure.
