The governance structure of Zos Ntuj Hmoov Ntuj Community Land Trust (ZNHN CLT) consists of the following bodies:
The Board of Directors (Yeej Xeeb Kum Fai)
The Board of Directors is responsible for providing leadership, governance, oversight, decision-making, and implementing policies and rules for ZNHN CLT, representing the interests of ZNHN CLT members and the public.
The Policymaking Council (Tsheej Xeeb Kum Fai)
The Policymaking Council is responsible for proposing and making policies and rules that pertain to ZNHN CLT, in consultation with the Board of Directors.
The Moral Principles Council (Pheej Xeeb Kum Fai)
The Moral Principles Council is responsible for reviewing the policies and rules passed by the Policymaking Council to ensure that no policies or rules violate any moral principles. The Moral Principles Council also makes recommendations on policies and rules to the Board of Directors. Moral principles are standards of right and wrong that a person or group has. They are ethical guidelines that we live by to make sure that we are doing the right thing, such as honesty, fairness, and equality.
The Mediation Council (Meej Xeeb Kum Fai)
The Mediation Council is responsible for interpreting the policies and rules approved by the Board of Directors and applying them to resolve any problems or disputes that may arise among ZNHN CLT members. The Mediation Council shall provide a voluntary and private dispute resolution process in which the mediator(s) help parties to reach their own negotiated settlement agreement. The mediator(s) have no power to impose a settlement, rather, their function is to overcome any impasse and encourage parties to reach an amicable settlement.
In addition to the governance process, when ZNHN is fully developed, the following departments will be established to run the operations of ZNHN and to serve its members:
- The Business Department (Teev Peev Luag Sua) is responsible for the economic development of ZNHN.
- The Health Department (Kum Thaj Yeeb Sim) is responsible for the wellbeing of ZNHN members (physical, emotional, social, intellectual, and spiritual wellbeing).
- The Parks and Recreation Department (Looj Loog Luaj Sim) is responsible for developing and maintaining parks, recreation areas, and walkways in ZNHN to keep our community clean and beautiful.
- The Facility and Maintenance Department is responsible for basic maintenance and repair of ZNHN’s facilities, including exterior, interior, and vital systems (heating, ventilation, air conditioning, plumbing, and electrical).
- The Agriculture and Environmental Department (Lag Looj Tim Si) is responsible for the impacts of agriculture on the environment to ensure that our agriculture activities do not contaminate our environment and the community.
- The Arts, Culture, and Historical Department (Ceeb Huj Keeb Tiv) is responsible for preserving, teaching, and celebrating our history, culture, and traditional activities.
- The Learning Department (Kum Xeeb Lag Rhawv) is responsible for knowledge and skills development as well as the development of an educational system and curriculum for our community members and children.
- The Transportation and Security Department (Si Tim Looj Tsawb thiab Teev Lag Huj Xeeb) is responsible for the transportation of products and/or goods and persons in and out of ZNHN to ensure the safety of ZNHN CLT members.
- The Finance Department (Peev Txheej Feeb Lim) is responsible for developing budgets, preparing financial statements, collecting revenues, paying expenses, and other financial activities of ZNHN CLT.
